          Andra Day, whose real name is Cassandra Monique Batie, was born in Spokane, Washington, on December 30, 1984.

          Her family moved to San Diego, California, when she was three years old. Day developed her artistic abilities at an early age, joining the choir at United Methodist Church in Chula Vista and studying dance for 15 years.
